The website is a disaster. No way to cancel your subscription and NO HUMAN contact. JUST AWFUL!
Date of experience: December 20, 2024This company is a trash. I subscribed for six months, tried to cancel before it was renewed automatically. Since I was unable to do so (I could not login my account on the app), I emailed and asked them to cancel my subscription in time and not to renew it. But they took their time to respond and let my subscription renew automatically." They charged me for the renewal and started to send a box. I contacted my credit union to dispute this charge.
This customer service is no help. There is no customer service which is customer satisfaction. Do not start subscriptions with them. You can buy super chewer toys at Petsmart, Amazon etc.
Date of experience: December 5, 2024I have to send them an email so I get my box. They took the money out of my account on the 2nd of October and still haven't gotten my box and it is now October 18 2024! Stop play with me!

Date of experience: December 7, 2024When I signed up for our subscription, it was for 12 months. They seriously try to hold you to this commitment if you try to cancel. I emailed several times with no resolution. I tried to call to speak with someone to no avail. I chatted and literally had to force them to give me a refund and cancel my subscription. I had to ask to escalate to a supervisor before they would help me. NOT WORTH IT.

Their team was super helpful and supportive in getting the box cancelled, and even offered to reach out afterwards to check in. I am and will forever be grateful for their business, and will definitely be coming back to them in the future.

Date of experience: May 7, 2024I just want to say,my dogs love their toys! It took a few trys before we got it right and realized the best ones for my crew are the super durable nylon toys.
My Rottweilers love that they can chew as hard as they want and they don't destroy them. They know when the boxes come because the mailman leaves it on my porch and that's the only time he does. They all let me know when he's here and they get so excited they all line up by the window and watch. Thank you for making Rottweiler and pitbull proof toys. ND those snacks are great too!

Date of experience: February 15, 2024The "im so sorry" emails for the last 3 months have been so annoying, but the "69" one really irritated me. I understand we're all grown but there's a time and place for these explicit things. After responding to the email, I get a response from someone justifying why they thought it was "cool" and "funny" to send something so tacky. Consider a different marketing manager because this is poor and once more, tacky. May work for some people but owning a business isn't and shouldn't be aimed at one crowd.

Date of experience: January 28, 2024So we tried the Bark Box. Worst dog toys I have EVER seen. Every single toy is fabric. All plucked and shredded within a couple of hours. No rope toys or real chew toys. Constantly picking the threads our of Cuffs mouth trying to insure he doesn't ingest the threads. Threw the toys away. We feel robbed and cheated. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Never again.
Products used:Bark box. Absolutely nothing to write home about. 100% thread cloth toys. Horrible ingestion danger. Threw the rest of the toys away.

Will not cancel or refund even when yup contact them same day and request it. Does not remind or notify you of an autorenewal coming up. Does not make it easy to find cancel auto renew button.
Finally, super chewer not worth it - dog destroyed everything they sent or lost interest very quickly.

Date of experience: January 4, 2024Bought a new dog toy with a promotional portrait of my pup from BarkBox included with the purchase. Never received the portrait. Reached out to them and they told me it would be sent within a week. That was 3 weeks ago. I don't know what this company is all about, but BEWARE!

Not really surprising that the replacements are some (even more boring than the toys they originally sent) leftover (unwanted) Christmas themed trash and still nothing close to what was advertised.
BarkBox is pretty much the worst.
Tip for consumers:Seriously, the good toys are available on Amazon or at Target. Don't waste your time with anything else.

Date of experience: March 25, 2021Saw some really cool BarkBox toys on the shelf at Target, and ended up buying one to welcome my rescue boy home with. He loved it, so I figured I'd just sign him up for the subscription - the selection of toys from which we were let to believe we would be receiving a few, included many of the ones I had already seen, (and been impressed with.)
Unfortunately, none of the advertised toys were included in our (double promo) box - in fact the toys we did receive were mostly cheap, and boring - comparable to discount stuffys on the rack at Winco. Out of the 4 toys (double promo) he only gave any attention to two, but shortly lost interest. Went to the pet store later that day to let him pick some better ones for us to play with.
This was my only issue with the box until I looked at the treats, which are all cheap, rubbery crap full of legume powders, sugars, and carcinogenic additions (for "flavor"). My pup wouldn't even give them a second sniff (probably a good thing, as I wouldn't want him to have them anyway...) I thought about giving the treats away, but I'm honestly not really sure I even want to donate these...
I chatted in immediately after we opened it and was promptly told that I should be happy with the value of the box and that the toys were each $10-$12 individually - to which I told the rep the company's penchant for over-charging of customers is no excuse for poor expectation-setting, or bait-and-switch marketing, and suggested he cancel my sub. He did.
All in all, I expected this to be the end of it, but I recently had someone reach out to me and ask about my experience. My boy is apparently going to be receiving 2 (more interesting) toys in the mail shortly... While I know there are good BarkBox toys out there, my hopes for receiving any are not high.
Tip for consumers:Just buy the good-quality toys from Target... I honestly don't believe there are any good treats in this company's repertoire.

“AMAZING COMPANY”
January 16th, 2023
My dog Max recently passed away. They immediately gave me a refund for my last box without me asking. I was just cancelling due to his passing. They also sent me sympathy cards and an artist drew Max on the card. Very caring company, they even followed up to see if I was ok. Max loved his barkbox and would open them every month with such excitement. Thank you Barkbox for caring.

Go to spend the $100 and there's literally NOTHING in stock! 90% of everything is SOLD OUT? Yeah, right, thanks for nothing. Rigid and rdiculously petty business practice. It's evident barkbox is headed towards their eventual doom. Don't fall for their double talking tactics. It's all smoke and mirrors.

There toys don't stand up to him so I tried to cancel can't call all you get is a text email and takes for ever witch is bs. Sorry for the punctuation I'm bad. Finally I get with someone through text and there like well we don't offer cancelation on subscription. Wait why I pay by the month wtf. So there like yeah I will cancel for you and send u 1 more box, no why the toys don't last I just want a refund on my last box yr about to send cause I'm telling you yr toys don't last but 5mi With him please stop. The treat bags have less in them and some have gotten smaller. If you have an issue, like double charging your acct, their customer service is useless. I ended up having to dispute the charges and cancel my card.

She assured me the treats were for puppies, yet the package said different. Choking & digestive issues are not something I want to pay for. They overcharged me (confirmed on other sites) for the free inflatable water hydrant, just to cancel my subscription. Lousy customer service & do not recommend!

Date of experience: December 2, 2023We've been getting BarkBox for about 8 months, and we love it. My favorite thing is their "tear-able" toys. My dog LOVES to tear up fabric. Many of these toys are made with a cloth exterior designed to be torn open, revealing a durable toy, usually with a squeaker, inside. My dog can spend hours shredding the fabric, and she's not destroying my things anymore!
Some people have complained about their customer service. When I had an issue, I sent an email and got a response within a day. I think it's a small company, so they don't hire a cadre of employees dedicated to customer service.
Products used:I get the monthly delivery, and often purchase fun add-on items.

He started when he was four months old and the company has been helpful making sure his box is the best for his age and chewing stage. We have never been disappointed in the contents of a box. We just added a new puppy to the family and have already ordered her Bark Box. Now, both dogs will love going to the post office to get "their" mail.

The only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because they won't let you cancel your orders. For example if you got a 12 month package you can't cancel till you have revived the 12 monthly packages.
Date of experience: July 23, 2015It is nice to have the bark box come each month, both for the dog and its owners as I feel like we all sit around to read the theme and analyze the toys and treats. Sometimes the toys are a little redundant and the treats may not always be ones you approve of, but overall the experience is pretty solid. I do wish they had an option where you wouldn't receive toys that squeek. His favorite toy to date is the Bison!
