Cardpool Review
I used to only use Cardpool for discounted gift cards because of their 1 year guarantee. However, since September 2020 they have now gotten rid of that and only offer 60 days. So the first time I ever had a problem with them was recently when I made an order and received a zero balance gift card. I read their guarantee and found that the email written within it does not exist so my email could not be delivered. I then googled their customer service phone number and called it only to find that the number is not in service. The only email I found that is real is *******@cardpool.com, however no one has replied to me in 4 days. Don't waste your money on here, there is a better alternative! I have recently started using the Honey extension and you can purchase a discounted gift card in exactly your amount due with one click! Much easier and you never get a zero balance gift card!

Date of experience: November 14, 2020This site is a complete fraud. They sell gift cards with zero balances, this is happened to many many people, including myself. They have no customer service so there's literally no recourse if you buy a bad card. Please do not buy from them, it's not worth it to try to save a few bucks.
Date of experience: October 6, 2020The gift card you buy is probably sold to someone else as well. I had 4 occasions where i bought gift cards and the funds became zero several weeks/months later. Luckily i was able to get my money back. However, i had a 100$ dillard's gift card that i purchased oct 2019 and was not able to use it in a timely manner due to the pandemic/ shutdown that occurred. I am 30 days past their 12months guarantee period and they won't help me nor extend their guarantee period due to this unforeseen situation.
Date of experience: November 25, 2020I purchased a Coach e-Gift card ($250) on 12/31/2019, my family member and I didn't use it. But when we tried to use it in the Sep of this year, the balance is $0. They could have sold it to another person again. Also the ex-owner could have used it, which will be the card management problem. I spent 1 month on communicating Cardpool for refund. But their response is slow and very rude, they refuse to refund. They don't follow 1 year money back guarantee policy. They always say it is my problem: I sold it, my family member used it, or my email/phone/computer got hack. They never say it could be Cardpool's problem. They didn't manage the card well. If they didn't sell it to another person, it must be ex-owner problem. Don't trust Cardpool, very bad service. They never tried to help customer to resolve the problem. They don't take any responsibility. 1-year money-back-guarantee policy is a fraud.
Date of experience: October 23, 2020I attempted to sell a gift card to Cardpool. After several days in review, they declined the transaction. I kept the card, figuring I'd use it eventually. Several months later, I tried to use the card only to find out that it had a zero balance. Customer service for the store told me the money was spent online using the card number and PIN. The card was in my possession the entire time, so the only way it could have been compromised is through Cardpool.
Date of experience: December 21, 2020This site sold me a giftcard with a $0 balance on it. When I contacted them, they sent a cropped screenshot, showing that $0 balance. They claimed I had used the card already. I went to the restaurant's site and put in my info and sent them the SAME screenshot, this time not cropped. That revealed that the card that had been sold to me weeks ago had not been used in 6 months, but somehow had a balance of $0. They never responded, but they sure did steal my money.
DO NOT use this site! It is a scam!
I am reporting them to the FTC and anywhere else that investigated cybercrime and fraud.
Date of experience: August 24, 2020Purchase a bad gift card that didnt work. Contacted multiple times about the issue and they blame the customer. They will say you gave the information out or your computer or phone is hacked. Buyer beware as youre giving your money away if this happens to you
Tip for consumers:The small discount is not worth risking loosing your money especially if its for a large amount.
Products used:Purchased a gift card but it was bad. They didnt fix it. Making you as a buyer look like a joke when you go to use it.

Date of experience: February 1, 2021Purchased a $100.00 Nordstrom gift card during June, 2020. Nordstrom refused the card, stating that it had been stolen. Cardpool brags about their 1 year gaurantee. Informed Cardpool of the problem, and they ignored Nordstrom's action and informed me that "maybe" I used the card and forgot about it. Incredible... Cardpool has never contacted Nordstrom, Cardpool responds to complaints with pre-written Emails that may not fit the issue at hand. They simply want you to go away. I have a good credit card company and I believe that they will get my refund.
Date of experience: August 27, 2020I sent my card to them and it took months to hear back, only for them to return my card to me. I checked my balance when i got it, the full balance was in it, checked again four months later and my balance is $0.00. They're thieves!

Date of experience: March 28, 2021I bought gift cards for one merchant and they were electronic but took too long to get to me through e-mail (which should be almost instant)... the item I was trying to purchase went out of stock and then back off sale back to its original price which was double the amount. $300 instead of on sale for $150 when I bought the gift cards. I've been e-mailing for a month now and NO responses, not a single one!
Then I purchased a gift card last week and still have not received it. Other sites I've used I get the gift card within 15 mins... this one I'm lucky if I get it at all and definitely no refunds whatsoever... don't waste your money even if they price for a bigger discount it's not worth losing a couple of hundred dollars or more.
The screenshot shows their one automated response saying they will get back to me... but when? In a few years?
Date of experience: April 1, 2019I'm not sure why this site has so many bad reviews. As a person who used to own a survey site, it's probably from people not following directions, or trying to use the card after they sold it. It worked perfectly for me, I sold two cards, a Macy's card that I got from swagbucks and a Victoria Secret card that I gave to a Tinder chick and took it back from her after I found out she got some more side dudes without asking me first. Got my check in about 5 biz days.
Tip for consumers:Be sure the value of your card is correct when you enter it in.

Date of experience: February 13, 2018I had about half dozen purchases for over a year without an issue. Then I purchased 2 Starbucks cards in June and one of which was not a valid card. As you know, there is no phone support and email takes a few days for them to respond (if you're lucky). I told them about this issue and received an auto reply email that they would get back to me. Three weeks past and I still didn't hear a thing. I sent the second email, then the third one... I gave up and regretted I told a few friends to sign up!
Be careful and good luck if you're still using their service.
Date of experience: August 25, 2019I mailed them physical cards to a restaurant and they've kept them without paying me. They absolutely will not respond to emails no matter how times or addresses i send from. They have no phone support. My cards have been in review for over 3 weeks.
Tip for consumers:Do not mail them cards. They just steal them.

Date of experience: April 21, 2019Something is real shady about this "company." Be warned. They cancel your offers without explanation. They call asking strange questions about a $50 gift card, then still cancel the order after you satisfy their idiotic curiosities. I'm thinking they're a front for something else, interested primarily in acquiring information than actually buying legitimate gift cards. Who, what and why, no idea. But something is very wrong with cardpool.
Date of experience: July 18, 2013Stole my $50 giftcard without paying me, said they never got it. This would be the first time USPS has ever lost a package of mine or someone stole one after a long history of sending and receiving goods via post, so I don't doubt that CardPool received my gift card. Don't do business with them, you've been warned. They are con artists and will steal your money. Fact.
Date of experience: February 16, 2018Tried a $50 Barnes & Noble card. Offered $30.00 (60%). The kiosk swipe did not work so I had to manually enter the number. Scanner would not scan my driver's license; multiple attempts. Went home and bought two magazine subscriptions for my wife.
Date of experience: June 21, 2018Sadly, after a couple of perfectly fine experiences, I had two epic fails. Orders were not fulfilled, customer service took a week to respond, and then the answers back are simply nonsensical. Sad, because the concept is great, but these folks seem to be processing orders on index cards, or have no internal inventory or system controls. I suggest staying away, and I seldom leave negative reviews.

Date of experience: November 11, 2014Purchased an e gift card online, Cardpool said it would take 1 business day to send code to email, but I did not receive it until two and a half days later. Customer service reps are rude, very unfriendly and impersonal.
Date of experience: June 12, 2014'Scam-sold cards with zero balance'. Customer service sucks, no refunds. Their 1 year guarantee just a junk. Now, I have to deal with my bank. What a waste of time. Stay far away from them.
Date of experience: August 7, 2020Listen, let me tell you that NONE of the positive reviews here are real. This site is a complete scam. I have filed a brief with the CA Attorney's General to hopefully get my money back. Be forewarned folks!

These guys are total crooks. I am STILL WAITING to be paid for 2 gift cards I've sold to them. Transaction # *******, in fact.
Cardpool, you better pay up! Buyers out there... BEWARE! Dont sell or buy from these scam artists. I would like a full payment as agreed to asap.
Updated by cardpoolsux, Apr 05,2017
So now that they have my gift card info, they have sold it or given it to someone else, and now are not going to pay me! This is INSANE!
SEE BELOW. Gift cards have no value now and now they have will not pay me for them? What in the world?
Cardpool Support, Apr 5:
Hi CUSTOMER,
We've recently discovered that both the Best Buy gift card codes that you sold to us lost value. Unfortunately, we're no longer able to accept the gift card codes in your transaction. According to the terms of service published on Cardpool.com, we cannot issue payment for gift cards that have been used or lose value after they have been sold and may cancel outstanding payment for the gift card or charge the credit card that you submitted in order to recover the amount that was paid for the gift card.
We are writing to let you know that we have canceled checks #******* and #******* to recover our costs for this transaction. We recommend that you destroy this check when you receive it as it has been voided.
Regards,
Jasmine

“RUN from CARDPOOL as fast as you can!”
February 10th, 2018
Horrible experience! Ordered several Lowes e-gift cards. Cardpool's website claims most orders will be processed within "several minutes". Once you place the order, the disclosure changes to "most order processed within 24 hours". Mine is still processing (4 days after placing the order). I called their customer service number 12 times - every time got a voice mail. A also sent them several emails with the request to cancel the order as it did not meet processing deadlines stated on THEIR own company's website. Four days later received email from them asking to call them again to verify some information - this is in response to my request to cancel the order! They either need to get out of business or allocate proper resources to their customer service department. Currently, they are the best joke around in San Francisco! And they seem not to care!
Date of experience: February 10, 2018I bought $200 worth electronic american Airlines GC, it has been more than 1 day and my order is not delivered yet. I wonder what makes them take days to deliver electronic giftcard. I used other services like raise and cardkangaroo before they are extremely fast and reliable. This is by far the worst service I have ever seen. If you want to save time and money stay away from this.

Date of experience: October 13, 2017I've used several of these discounted online giftcard sites and this is the worst. All other sites send the e-card within hours, so far it's been a day and nothing. Raise.com also offers $5 discounts on cards, use them instead.

Date of experience: March 31, 2015I put in a large order because we need to do a lot of home repairs prior to selling our house. They waited 2 days and cancelled for NO reason without even trying to contact me. Now it's too late to use another site.
Date of experience: April 4, 2016Ordered a $200 gift card. 3 days later it was cancelled. Email was very vague and poorly worded with no reason for the cancellation. I'm questioning the legitimacy of this site, that now has my credit card info!
