The pattern of the sole is quite shallow so I don't know how they will be in slick conditions but otherwise I think they will be nice boots for the winter. The shoes are awesome, cute, comfortable, warm, and true to size...but they took 19 days to arrive! I do live in Alaska but USPS has flat rate to Alaska that arrives within a week, year round. When I contacted the seller they told me shipping to Alaska could take up to 14 days. Of course it can...but does it usually? (No!) I've been up here 23 years and buy stuff online all the time, I know how long it takes for stuff to arrive. 19 days is too long, and is way outside the normal time. I think they used one of those partner shipping methods, where it starts out with UPS and transfers to USPS so maybe that's why it took an eternity to arrive. Other than that, totally happy with my purchase! I received a prompt but somewhat condescending email reply about how long shipping takes to Alaska. If you can't fix your customer service issue (ie you can't make it arrive faster), the representative should be polite, say "I'm sorry, that must be frustrating, I'll provide feedback to my manager about shipping methods" not, "our policy says it can take up to 14 days to arrive to Alaska".
