Trivago is wasting their money with an awful ad campaign in the US. I reached out to the Marketing Department, and have not received a reply. I travel quite a bit and use a few different platforms, apps and tools. I advise others on travel and am often asked what tools I use for booking travel. I am well within the target audience for Trivago. Based on their awful ad, I would never use them. Service Value Quality Date of experience: January 5, 2025
They advertise a price and clearly state that the reservation is cancelable. Click on link, enter CC info, get a confirmation that reservation is non refundable. They hide behind the booking company and they're not responsible for the change in terms. Complete BS of a business model. There's a reason that they've been fined by governments for fraud. Only by stopping using them, will they go away for good. Service Value Quality Date of experience: January 14, 2024
I used Trivago to stay at a Days Inn in Ontario Canada. I booked for 2 nights then decided to stay an extra night. I paid the motel directly for the extra night. When I checked my credit card statement I found there was no difference in price. Which begs the question, why not just book directly with the motel/hotel yourself? Date of experience: August 9, 2022
They would not refund or change the dates of my hotel stay. They don't really mean cancel the reservation 24 hours before. I will never use trivago again. I will call the Hotel and make my reservation. Tip for consumers:Call the hotel and not use trivago to book hotels. Products used:Got screwed out of $600. Price is different when you are going to book. What is the use of a comparing site when prices are not correct shown on Trivago. It's not the booking site. Prices on Booking and Agora are mostly 2 or 3 times the price shown on Trivago when you click on the Trivago price. Service Value Quality Date of experience: February 22, 2023
I was led to believe I was booking directly through the hotel and it was not labeled Trivago.after calling and making reservation my message from them said Trivago. My daughter to.d me she got a much lower rate going directly through the hotel.I told her I was duped because it looked like I was going directly through the hotel.I also said I may want to cancel at the ti e and they said I could but added an additional 7 dollars to my reservation.I canceled and when I called to cancel they said they were adding another additional fee.what a deceptive and horrible business.Yoy get a higher rate and they rip people off.Do not use them. Tip for consumers:This was Trivago.A travel organization..seems l ore lime a scam outfit.Very deceiving. Service Value Date of experience: April 14, 2024
I need my refund back my booking was booked the wrong date call and spoke to someone after two days of getting someone to finally answer said I had to wait 24 which it has been no one answered and still waiting on a refund which I haven't received and they took my money I need my money back don't have money to give away! Found a bed bug right as I was going to bed. Notified the manager who then called the owner. The owner showed no instantly became rude n condescending. Flat out blamed us for bringing them in. No plan to remedy the problem. We requested our refund n left. Inspect thoroughly the beds! Think twice before considering staying here. Magnify that picture! Date of experience: May 20, 2020
Booked a room with Days Inn Wyndham Effingham Illinois. The event we were going to attend ( FUNFEST) canceled all but one day for event. We called and canceled our hotel reservations for September 14th through 18th of 2022 on May 10th 2022. We have just given that money to someone because we cannot get a refund. We should have called and booked directly, ended up costing us much more than we would have saved going through this company. Very dishonest! Lesson learned! Date of experience: May 10, 2022
I booked three hotels via Trivago during the last two months. No complains! Fast and easy to book, best prices available and a top notch user surface. From my experience: Best hotel comparison website! Date of experience: March 2, 2017
Surprised to see so many 1 star ratings for Trivago. Found it helpful several times when looking for a decent hotel deal. Don't travel much, so maybe I'm not as picky. I do have specific requirements such as an in-room refrigerator and microwave. Trivago let's me filter hotels for both. Tip for consumers:Find it challenging to use on my iPad. Works better on a larger screen. Date of experience: July 31, 2017
Their persistent and excessive TV advertisements are enough to drive anyone bonkers. Whenever one of their ads come up I immediately change channels. I would rather use any other travel site than theirs. Date of experience: February 13, 2018
Helpful site and quick server responses. Have been using it for 2 years now, good deals and makes it easy to find a booking partner. Don't know all of the ones in the list but so far, I only made good experiences. This is why I would recommend trivago to my friends any time if they're looking for hotels. Booked a hotel with Trivago, which referred me to an outside website, and subsequently discovered I had paid more than $20.00 more than I could have obtained the advanced reservation elsewhere. This site is a total bogus scam, and their pitch man on TV accurately portrays their professionalism: totally absent. Date of experience: October 1, 2014
This site is great! Trivago has focused on comparing hotels with each other in numerous perspectives. Before submitting your search you may filter for: price, hotel rating, number of stars, the distance to either the city center or other important sites, type of lodging, hotel facilities... also you may search for a specific hotel to find the cheapest price for that exact hotel. After setting the filters to your liking trivago will provide you with a list of suitable hotels which may be ordered by popularity, rating, price or distance. So again you choose to prioritize exactly what is most important to you. Overall I think it is a very carefully planned and user friendly service that I would like to recommend to others who like to take care of their travelling arrangements online. I learned that if I had stepped into the chosen hotel, my rate would be $22 cheaper than booking through Trivago. Now I find that Trivago booked me not only for last night in Tennessee but has also booked me for three days from now in New Mexico via Priceline! There is absolutely no way to get hold of Trivago and get it made right. Priceline says "Too bad, so sad" and hotel refers everything back to 'the third carrier'. The minor convenience now seems not worth the costs. Tip for consumers:First, every time the screen changes CHECK THE DATES. They often change too. Second, don't fill in information to make it easier. They can then auto book you when you only thought you were looking. Third, call the hotel directly, give them any organizations you belong to that might permit a discount and get a best rate to compare. Was looking for low priced rooms for night of 10 Oct, check out the next day. Trivago showed rooms for under $200 but when you click on the deals, next window shows it does not exist. Refreshed browser, tried again 30 minutes later. Non existent deals still there. Tried another browser, same false deals posted. What a waste of time. After all these false deals up for hours, I have little faith in the credibility of Trivago. A world class, quality website would ensure all deals exist. Showing the same false ones for hours isn't cutting it. Trivago can do better. Problem is it doesn't. Date of experience: October 10, 2015
Absolutely the worst. Never, ever use them. Ruined my vacation, and they take no responsibility for their screw ups. Everyone points fingers at everyone else. I am bringing a law suit against them, which means going to NYC to get a judgement. It will be worth it. I repeat: contemptible company, use at your own peril! Date of experience: June 7, 2016
I would like to pass comment on Trivago and shed a little light on the company. Firstly it is at least 66% part owned by Expedia so Expedia and its affiliates have a vested interest in it. As an accommodation provider we have been trying for some extended period to get our business removed from their website as the data pertaining to the business is erroneous. Like those that use the site to book accommodation and then cant get a response I sympathize with you regarding their lack of communication. Numerous emails from us to them result in an auto generated email or a response that advises us to "sign up" and make the changes ourselves. Trivago are obstructionist, they do not respond to emails if they do it is always putting the responsibility back onto the other party or offering excuses as to why they cant do things. But then this is a company that allegedly offers free beer and breakfast to its employees why would you deal with them. Date of experience: August 11, 2014
Tried this after seeing countless ads on CNBC Bunch of baloney! I tested it out and managed to get better rates through Hotel.com AND direct to the hotel. Obviously they're making $ by taking a share and counting on people not doing their homework. I'll test it out again as I travel a few times a year but not holding out much hope... Don't use either site. You will get ripped off. My first experience and it cost me 285 dollars. Elvoline is a scam company. They switched my reservation within 1 hour and then kept the money and now I can't get it back. Date of experience: September 23, 2015
Great experience from check in to check out. Very convenient location, friendly and helpful staff. Went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. Breakfast bar best I've had. Good food and large selection. Rooms very clean. Love the indoor pool. Very well kept. Date of experience: September 15, 2017
We're talking about Forbes Island on pier 39 in the fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. The whole experience was magnificent. First, you take a short ferry ride to the restaurant. From the moment you arrive you are treated like royalty. The food was exquisite. It was a four course meal each course was fantastic and the service was phenomenal and her name was Katya. All told a beautiful Birthday experience for my wife. Value Date of experience: December 9, 2015
Was looking for a hotel in downtown Toronto, so set the search for "Downtown Toronto / Close to CN Tower..." (a pre-set selection) And it came up with all kinds of hotels in Mississauga, North York, etc. I'm sure the prices were good but don't have the time to look through all the crappy recommendations. Hotels.com was so much better for search Date of experience: March 25, 2018
We spent three nights at this hotel, yet never received room service. I was pleased by the spaciousness of the room but could not overlook the (fairly clean) yet outdated nature. The grounds (and stairways!) are in complete disrepair. I enjoyed the quality of breakfast but was absolutely dismayed by the nazi nature of staffing: breakfast is pulled at the exact minute despite guest needs~ I arrived 15 minutes before closing (9am) yet was refused (apon asking) eggs (empty tray) for my 15 month old child because it "was too close to closing". Such disregard means I will never stay at this location (or probably any choice hotels again). Date of experience: August 1, 2016
