Date of experience: September 14, 2020I've never purchased from AmiAmi before and was quite nervous since I didn't know how their preorder system works. It was very easy to check out and their customer service responded quickly to my question about how long I have to pay an invoice (1 week from it being sent out). It was shipped a couple days after I paid the invoice and 4 days later today it came in! Everything was packaged perfectly and my products were brand new and beautiful. I will be using AmiAmi in the future. Thank you so much!

Tip for consumers:Order fast! Some goods sell out and can't be bought later.

Date of experience: July 26, 2023Where to even begin, it's a good concept but they 100% refuse tracking numbers (even if you pay for it) and then close your account when you have to open a paypal claim because your item never came and they're refusing you tracking. Would not recommend based on the fact they're scammers.
Tip for consumers:Don't. It's great until an item goes mia and they refuse to assist

I mostly buy used figures from their store at a (surprisingly) low price. Their harsh grading system on second-hand figures/goods is great, one dent on the box? Down to a B.

Because i lost my email address access and made a new one. They keep track of every address they ever ship to. And proceed to tell me i can't use a new email.

Date of experience: September 20, 2023I pre-ordered an item and paid for it fully. But unfortunately due to Covid lockdowns, there was a shipping issue. I understood so I never complained, just followed up once or twice just to be sure my order is still in good standing. Now all of sudden I receive an email from them inquiring if they can change the manner of shipment, specifically they want to split the item into several parcels. So I replied asking them how will they split the item, are they gonna open the box, etc. And I wrote in bold letters that I do not intend to cancel. They ignored my reply and the next email I got was the notice of refund from Paypal, and then a notice of cancellation from them. I have waited more than a year for this order only for them to cancel it just like that. The only reason I can think of is because the item's price went so high and they will just sell it again for bigger profit. In the meantime, my original payment decreased to about $100 after conversion and/or fees.

However, my orders from Germany, unregistered parcel and free shipping, arrived on time on my home country despite the distance. I will not recommend this shop and will not buy again from them.

First time staff said to me 'Will ship on Wednesday' Today Thursday is still not shipped. Now, they said Friday it would be shipped. There is not any delay with my country but they re saying it s delaying and normally they re saying cargo ll be in 2 days... I said ıf it s not be in cargo tomorrow, i want canceling an order but they say it's not possible. What kind of service is this?

Date of experience: June 16, 2022Long time ago they closed my account for no reason, asked their customer service and no reply at all. So I created a new account with different email recently and pre ordered a figure, got all the confirmation emails then suddenly it got closed again. Asked for the reason and they replied with "multiple account policy" unpolity, then I asked for the reason why they closed my previous account again then no reply.
They don't care about customers, never reply if they mark you as a non-business supporter. Just go Hobbysearch or Hobby-Genki if you would like to buy any figures or something. They got better service/price/shipping.
Tip for consumers:use other anime/figure sites, amiami customer service is the worst. sometime their price is higher than Amazon.com.jp with high cost shipping. no worth.
Date of experience: February 14, 2022I love AmiAmi! They always have discounts and almost eveything is there! I pre-ordered lotsa stuff from them and one of the things I love about AmiAmi is you have the item reserved but you don't have to pay right away. You'll only pay when the item is with them and the shipping costs are determined already. Not only that but they give grace period of one week before your payment due date. One time, I had to ask them if they could extend a few more days for me to settle my payment and they obliged. Such fantastic customer service! Shipping is totally wonderful!
I love AmiAmi and they're my go-to shop for every Yuri On Ice and Haikyuu releases :D

I actually cancelled 2 of my months long Nendoroid preorders from other site bc I thought it's cheaper here. I provided them all my information and credit card info. After weeks with no update on the orders, I went back to the site to check just to know they closed my account without even sending me an email notifying about it. I contacted them and they said it's closed bc my HOUSE ADDRESS is used by another acc and all who lived in the same house should use ONLY 1 ACCOUNT. Like do they even have an idea what's privacy is? Or at least use some cents to send an email to your customer tell them about the problem. Why AmiAmi so CHEAP about it? I'm surprised this site is famous. The preorders are all closed so get gud right? They basically treat their customer like $#*!. Please save yourself the time, if you are unlucky getting into trouble they have no regard for you, only for their profit.

My experience with AmiAmi has been mostly positive until recently. I didn't have any big problems in the past 5 years until one of my recent order came with a lot of damage. 2 of the 3 boxes were crushed. I contacted their customer service and they suggested I file for insurance. This is the first time I actually filed for insurance for anything. What they didn't tell me was that when you file for insurance, the post office confiscate the whole package (and destroys it). In return, they pay you whatever they want.
So I spent 13,000 JPY for 3 figures. Only 2 were damaged. I surrender my whole package without knowing all the details. I am getting 6,000 JPY from insurance (because that was the max payout for that type of shipping).
Current status: no figures, -7,000 JPY
AmiAmi's customer service doesn't care. It was something that could have been handled with just them, but they gave me bad advice. My post office was not sure about the whole procedure either, but it's too late now. AmiAmi is telling me that it was my responsibility and they are not liable. Even after being a good customer for the past 5 years and spending over 500,000 JPY, I am just another replaceable customer.
Tip for consumers:Pray that your items arrive safely because AmiAmi does not care once it's shipped.
Do not accept a package that has visible heavy box damage.
If something is damaged, don't file for insurance unless the price you are entitled to covers the WHOLE package. You can't really pick which items you want to keep. (I guess you can try)

Date of experience: August 2, 2017I pre-ordered an item in 2020 and paid for it in full with shipping. But because of Covid they claim they could not ship. They told me they will store the item in their warehouse. I didn't mind the wait as long the item is secured. You would think that. But low and behold after a year they just cancelled cancelled my order without even consulting with me. I found out after the email of refund through Paypal. Price of the item has doubled since then of course so it make sense for them to not honor the pre-order anymore. They claim that there is no shipping to Canada. I reordered the item again at Luna Park Toys in Japan paying double the price now. And I got my item in less than 2 weeks. I sent AmiAmi an email regarding that and they say each company is different handling shipping. DHL was used to deliver my package. So they are clearly lying to their teeth about shipping issue and just want to profit from the new value of the item. Very bad customer service. I would not recommend this company at all. I cancelled all my other existing pre-orders and will take my business somewhere else.

He said that AmiAmi steals your credit card information. So yeah, some sites may not be trustworthy when it comes to buying actual stuff from Japan of what you want.
Date of experience: October 15, 2022Package arrived busted and damaged. They shifted all initial responsibility to the buyer and post office. Asked to file a claim with USPS. (Should file through EMS) Refused to file a claim, as it is the Seller's responsibility to report failure of shipping services based on their agreed contract with the postal service. They are suppose to open a claim through EMS Japan, have me hold the item till the claim moves forward to inspections, where I can then take the item to my nearest EMS location, where a report for package damage is provided. The postal service either reports the item as properly packaged for shipment, which gives them an approval or the item was not properly packaged, resulting in a denial. Instead, they have the buyer take the item to EMS, request to have it inspected (Cannot be done without a claim), report back to them, so they can open another claim/report through Japan Post in their Country, instead of going through EMS directly. (Which was the carrier) then proceed with a return/refund once they confirm through the buyer that they are approved. Makes no sense and comes off as greed. I previously had a positive experience when purchasing a doll however, my second purchase with them (which I expected to end on a positive note) was not fulfilled. Instead I experienced poor customer service in offering little, to no resolution. Leading me to a dead end in requesting unreasonable service.
From a personal business stand point, the customer should never be left to provide their own customer service.
I will no longer purchase in the future with AmiAmi.
Date of experience: May 24, 2019I placed special order months ago for 3 items, totaled to just about $250. When I got the e-mail stating that my order was ready and awaiting payment. I went to try and pay for it, I could not. According to AmiAmi they said because of the "high value" of my orders, the payment needed to be done via paypal. They won't take credit card payments. I responded by tellign them I do not have a paypal account nor do I wish to open a paypal account. They in turn said, ok, for this special case, they will allow credit card payment. So I went to pay for the orders again, and still could not. I reached out again and explained. Their response was basically, well we changed our mind, your order is high value, so it needs to be done by paypal. SERIOUSLY? Its a order fro $250! THAT'S HIGH VALUE? I've done toy purchases over $3000. I routinely buy toys over $1000, those might be considered high value, but at $250?!?! Simply unbelievable.
If they would of indicated that payment needed to be in paypal when i first ordered, then that would be fine. I would of not even bother to bought from them at all. But the fact is they made me wait several months THEN changed the payment requirement. That is unacceptable. So now my order is canceled. GREAT customer service AmiAmi. Already told them to delete my account. Too many other websites out there for me to deal with them.

Date of experience: December 15, 2021The quality, shipping, and value are good. BUT the services ARE HORRIBLE. I missed out 3 of my orders because they keep on asking for confirmations (I guess they want to play safe). And after 2 misses (1 because pre-order takes ages and once released the grace period is too short the time I noticed the order is ready it canceled and I thought I prepaid for the preorder) (2nd miss, I miss preorder fine, I paid for order now it is released BUT FOR SOMEREASON STILL REQUIRES CONFIRMATION even though order is placed there shouldn't be any time lag, if in stock, I order, I get that simple I don't why there is a waiting line, therefore causing me TO MISS AGAIN AND SOMEHOW LOCKED TO ORDER) because locked order now I missed the 3 big items I wanted to buy and now it is out of stock. This website is safe and items are safe just the process is SO PAINFUL.

But their English support team is terrible. When they screw up on your order, they like to use the saying "One-time courtesy" before they fix their mistake. Why is it a "One-time courtesy" when you screw up on my order? Basically, they won't take responsibility after this one-time courtesy and they are also calling me or you a liar.
I had 2 experiences. One of my figure box was open from the back because the seam on the edge didn't stick properly. I wasn't sure what made it unstuck, but it wasn't "new" to me anymore, and wanted a replacement because I wasn't planning on opening it. I still haven't opened it yet. I like to keep it in their box and mint. Especially since this was an action figure. They scared me with the "One-time courtesy" donkey crap so I didn't get it replaced.
Another time, they forgot an item and they use the "One-time courtesy" crap again. I spent thousands of dollars on AmiAmi already and this is honestly hilarious they won't help me. Im probably going to look for other sites like hobbysearch or use proxy services like zenmarket. (not affiliated) Those are the 2 next cheaper alternatives that I know of. I have another site for gundam kits.
I honestly hate their English support team and they definitely are not Japanese people. I expect Japanese customer service from a Japanese company that is shipping Japanese goods from Japan. And I had experiences with real Japanese customer service from eBay and they were very understanding and accommodating 5x better than US customer service.
