This is the second time we have ordered from Campsaver and are just as pleased as the first time. I don't typically bother writing reviews, but after seeing so many people who had written bad reviews, I felt I needed to share my positive experience.
We ordered a roof rack as one of their Blazing hot deals." Price too good to be true? Well…. Order placed on the morning of Feb 28th. Immediate confirmation. Email late that SAME day saying the racks were shipped. Tracking number via UPS updated the next day and package arrived on March 5th. In a undamaged original box wrapped in those air puff bags inside another box.
In a nutshell - great prices and timely delivery.

Date of experience: March 5, 2024I took Campsaver.Com's invoice at face value after placing the order, it stated that shipping was FREE. But they came back saying it was a mistake and wanted me to pay $225 for shipping? Definitely not paying that, after the original invoice I have posted here stated the shipping was free. Spoke to upper management and they didn't really didn't want to honor their original invoice price either. They need to post shipping charges from the get go, instead of springing unwanted surprises on customers wasting everyone's time

Needless to say item didn't arrive in time, and they give themselves unlimited time to process order. Will have to pay return shipping on top of paying for premium shipping. Customer service senior guy Chase C. Was rude and unhelpful but i dont blame him, if they can't pay return shipping on something they delivered late they surely don't pay their customer service guys well either

Everyone who is unhappy with them should contact the Chamber of Commerce in their city and the Better Business Bureau as I am going to do. If people don't complain they will continue to rip them off.

Date of experience: December 21, 2023It was thinking, oh no! After reading horrible reviews here and having purchased through Camp Saver. But happy to report my experience was awesome. Product arrived 1 week after ordering, as advertised, no issues. I guess some may have bad luck, but it was a perfect transaction for me, and they beat everyone's prices.

I purchased mini backpack (see order photo) and two weeks later I received a large version of this item. There was a reason why I wanted mini! When I contacted the company to ask for the return label and refund, I got draconian instructions that I must pay for the return and let them have 10 business days after they receive my wrong order so they could inspect and scrutinise it to determine whether I lied to them or not about my claim. After that they might refund my money which I will receive in another 10 or so business days. The very thought of them scrutinising my order as if I am a suspect, made me do exactly what they intended - I'd rather lose $120, instead of dealing with this company. I found it unacceptable that company instead of issuing apology, free return label and refund, went on demanding more money and time from me for THEIR MISTAKE. Stay away!

Date of experience: January 5, 2024I placed an order on a Saturday for an item I really, really needed for a once-in-a-lifetime trip. This was after Amazon messed it up. Their "risk management" department came back with a handful of intrusive and ridiculous questions about the item's purpose, end user, and final destination. Okay, I thought, I'll play your stupid game because I have no choice. My clock is ticking. It then sat there for FIVE DAYS while I practically begged them to release it. Nope. I wound up canceling, and now I don't have this thing I counted on having. They don't care even a little. Heed the horrible reviews and don't shop here.
Tip for consumers:Don't waste your time. They'll waste yours.

When I returned it and asked for a refund, they tried very hard to convince me for an exchange instead. When I finally decided to exchange, they processed a new order of the same item with a MUCH HIGHER price without my consent. Then I understood why they tried to change my mind. This unauthorized transaction was literally a steal. When confronted via emails, they even tried to play stupid!

She stood behind the campsaver.com price match guarantee and cheerfully issued me a refund for the difference between the sale price and the original price of the boots that I purchased. I will definitely order from this site again.

Date of experience: January 4, 2022I have placed a couple orders with campsaver. The first few arrived as expected without issue (only reason I'm even giving them 2 stars). My most recent experience was horrible.
Ordered 4 items mid July with free shipping. I didn't expect them to arrive lightning fast. Received an email saying one item was out of stock, unavailable until early August. Fine, they'll send the other things and eventually my last item right? Nope! They wait for the last item and then ship them separately anyways. How does that make any sense?
While waiting I contacted cs a few times. No help at all. I'd ask about the not backordered items and would be told about the status of the backordered one. When I tried to complain I was blown off and told they needed to wait so everything could be shipped together... but it wasn't. Seems like nobody really knows the heck is going on at campsaver, especially chase (which I've seen other references to).
Date of experience: August 11, 2022I was exited to this "good" website, it seems I can buy all my needs on one website. I placed two orders, they sent emails for each order about security check, they will charge $0.99 - $5.00, maybe verify if I am the bank account realy user ~ which it sounds good! But after that I saw they had charged two times. I sent them the number. After that, I have never heard back. I login to their website to cancel my order. I looks it is processing status forever. I have to login to my bank account to dispute the payment. Hope I can cancel the payment success.
Warning: Never browse and buy anything on CampSaver webisite!

Their discounted item are items that are discontinued overstocked. If it's on back order you take the chance that they will never get the item. In my case a two week delay turned into 10 months and I still don't have the item, but the item has been offered continually for sale since, all be it at a higher price. Every month I've received notices of short delays. No call from customer service despite a half dozen years plus email request.
Tip for consumers:Don’t buy back ordered or items with noticed of delayed shipping unless you don’t need the item, ever.

Date of experience: February 19, 2021Hi, I bought some climbing rope 6 weeks ago paid upfront as usual for rope n delivery. It takes a few days for a response with an update. I live I Sydney Australia. My rope was sent within in the USA. They were not aware until I bought it to there attention. I asked for a refund. Seriously no customer service at all. This would have to be one of the worst companies I've dealt with. I highly recommend u stay away from these guys.
ClearlY they're happy to take ur money. To these guys ur not important. Just another grain of sand on a beach.

But one of them arrived with the box really beat up in the green version to me looked a little faded for some reason. I tried to call both places, Campsaver and optics planet. Neither one will take phone calls... Sorry but I will deal with smaller companies going forward. I don't have the time or the care to deal with their lack of employees. I'd rather pay more elsewhere than deal with this crap.
Date of experience: June 15, 2020I order 2 Stanley travel mugs which were of a very poor quality and tasted like plastic. Return policy sounds good and offers free return label. That is if you want store credit. If you want a refund they deduct $8... so basically I paid to ship my items back.

Date of experience: February 10, 2022I purchased a Marmot Highlander jacket from Campsaver recently. Their pricing was very competitive and they had the color I was after.
I was a little worried given some poor reviews but went ahead with the purchase.
Well what can I say, I received my jacket, it's exactly what I was after. They used UPS to ship the jacket and I could see exactly where it was (note I am in Australia). Campsaver customer service was excellent keeping me informed of when my jacket would be sent and followed up that I had received it.
Will definitely buy through them again. Seriously this has been as good experience as dealing with any of the large international companies.

I would never order again. I rather spend a few more dollars and have fast shipping and great customer service as Amazon always does.
Date of experience: July 20, 2020Campsaver is a genuine US based supplier with a huge range and good value. They ship international for free if your order is >$100. They do an extra payment authorization step with several options, only one of which is available to Austraian customers, and this adds around 4-5 business days to the delivery time and is a huge hassle. I found it insulting to spend $600 with them and be accused of stealing my own credit card. For me personally it was too inconvenient for me to use them again, but if this doesn't bother you then they are a good source of great value gear.
Date of experience: March 5, 2016I recently made a purchase from campsaver. This was my first experience with them. I was a bit concerned, because of all the negative reviews. I ordered a pair of running shoes that were on clearance. After placing the order, I immediately received a confirmation email. I selected the free shipping option, so I wasn't expecting the shoes to be immediately shipped. The confirmation email provided a link to check the status of the order, which I did about every other day. After 6 days, I sent an email to customer service asking for an update. I received a response letting me know that they were behind on orders, but mine would ship soon. The next day I received a shipping confirmation. Today I received the shoes.
I'm giving a rating of four, because even though the shipping was a little later than I anticipated the shoes arrived in good condition. I would order again from them.

I've ordered from CampSaver many times hoping it'd be different, believing the excuses they give me, and I've finally decided to just give up and know that, well, they're just that: excuses for a poorly run business with a horrible logistics operation that hides behind small text, disclaimers, and plays fast and loose with facts & math.
The crux of it is this: if you say you can ship something on time, in a given time frame, and especially if I pay extra for a given level of service, I expect that kind of service. Not in an unreasonable way, I know things aren't perfect (esp in a pandemic/post-pandemic world where labor and other items are still recovering), but every time I order from CampSaver, they never ship on time, and it takes so long I have to call to cancel (and you can't cancel it online despite them saying you can... if you can, I've never been given the option), and when it happens consistently (every time) the excuses about "longer than normal warehouse times" or "product availability wasn't properly updating on our website, sorry, just a one time bug" or similar become really patronizing and just aren't believable, they're either lying or so poorly run these issues are systemic, constant, and they should just not make any commitments. Neither reason is good at all!
Sure, they cancel the order and I get my refund eventually (thus not only one star, that's reserved for outright scams...), but this isn't much better. It feels like they take your order HOPING they have inventory (even if they say they have it, I have waited up to 10 business days for it to ship before I just gave up) and if they have it and their warehouse can get it together to put it in a box and send it, they ship it, I guess, but otherwise, they just hold on to your money until you ask for it back.
Their prices aren't much better than Backcountry, REI, Moosejaw, etc, but their warehousing & logistics operations are absolutely a disaster.
