    Freezes up on you here and there. When using gift cards, you still have to pay the full amount via a credit card instead of letting you pay the difference. I used gift cards to pay for Hulu when I first got it. Worked great no problem. Never charged the card. But if you pay say with a $50.00 Hulu gift card, you still like I said have to pay the full amount on your credit card, especially with the prices jacking up. Like come on Hulu, we're not made of money nor does money grow on trees. I switched to YouTube tv and it's much cheaper. Date of experience: October 22, 2024
    I've tried most of the movie sites and Hulu is by far the absolute worst. The website itself is slow and difficult to navigate. Their disabling of right-click makes it even worse. Movies stop at random places to load, ruining the continuity of the movie. And trying to skip ahead or back stops the movie outright for anywhere from several seconds to half a minute. You can't even pause a movie where you want because of the delay. Subtitles are out of sync with video on most movies. You have to pay to watch the movies, and then pay again if you want to watch them without ads. Even the free bootleg movie sites work better than Hulu.     I have several streaming platforms and HULU is the only one that consistently freezes and their system will lock you out if you have power outages. It seems like I'm always on the phone convincing them I haven't moved Tip for consumers:Don’t fall for the ad free. Full of ads. Saved $50 a month by dropping that ad free and didn’t notice at all.     I do not mind paying for something that has value to me and does not persistently have issues. Hulu has great tv but is plagued by operating issues. It will stop in the middle of a show, it does not track where you left off, it will reset (often), etc. If you want more money you have to offer more value with less aggravation.     Hulu you just started your countdown and are on borrowed time. I just got the email they are jacking the prices up. I gave netflix two chances and then ditched them. Don't think for one second I won't do the same to you. There is plenty of free t.v. The clock is now ticking.     Hulu offers a decent streaming experience with a good selection of TV shows and movies. But, the frequent ads in the lower tier subscription can be quite disruptive. Additionally, some users might find the content library lacking compared to other streaming services. Occasional buffering issues also detract from the viewing experience.     We never signed up for Hulu. But they charged our credit card. First month 2$. Second month, 9.95. I called Customer Service, and they had NO RECORD of our account. Told me it is up to us to contact VISA and dispute the charges. Date of experience: March 10, 2024
    Buyer beware. Total scam to sign up for Hulu -no ads! Find out later that it only applies to original Hulu shows. All other content has ads. So for the extra upgrade of 15/month, you get practically NOTHING. Tried contacting them multiple times to no avail. Long waits on "live" chat. No response or resolution provided.     Free trial my behind. I signed up for 1 free month. I went from commercial to no commercial plan and was charged. So now I don't get the free month as promised no matter which I picked, simply because I changed plans? I would have gotten a free month either way and after waiting on hold for an hour I still can't speak with the resolution specialist. What a rip off.     You can't manage your account from an iPhone or a tablet. It takes forever to get a customer service rep on the line and then they can barely comprehend English.     You can not pay for any of the bundles with a gift card. Not the Hulu/Disney or the Hulu/Disney/ESPN bundles! They don't state this anywhere in their ads or on the gift card itself. If you owe Hulu money and someone tries to help you out, you can't use the gift card to clear or reduce the amount owed.     Channel will not change to new channel, keeps going back to original channel. Called and was disconnected 5 times and no call back. Finally talked to someone and hardly spoke english and had no idea what he was doing. Still having the issue and I really dont want to spend my whole day off trying to fix the problem.     Their commercials between shows hang up and freeze. Once you back out and restart, it happens again and again. Especially after the Jameson Orange liquor commercial, guarded it will freeze every time after that commercial. Customer service is a joke. When someone finally answers, you cannot understand them because they're from another country. We're canceling this piece of crap and I suggest you really consider before buying into this mess.     We enjoy binge watching our favorite programs on Hulu, but as of just a couple weeks ago, Hulu stopped automatically playing the next episode. Now you have to manually tell it to play the next episode. They also removed the toggle in settings that tells it to play the next episode. Hulu was slipping in our opinion, with available programming, but Hulu officially sux now. It's no fun to have to manually play each episode. And if you don't play it quickly, it boots you out. We're probably going to delete Hulu. I've seen where people have canceled Hulu, but Hulu continues to bill you. Well, we use a bank card, and can block recurring charges, or just shut the card off.     Picture freezes 4-6 times per hour, live TV is a joke, trying to add or delete channels to favorites is so complicated even Hulu can't tell you how to do it. Sometimes programs play with no video, no audio or both. Incredibly poor interface for a company that all it does is interface with users' TV. A total joke. Date of experience: December 10, 2023
    The "choose your own" ads come in at top volume, 10x louder than the programming, and they ALWAYS freeze the app, especially the Jameson ads. In Googling the issue, I found a Reddit thread from over 100 days ago full of people with the SAME issue with a Jameson ad. Hulu was supposedly aware of it and fixing it but it obviously hasn't happened. There's a Carnival cruise ad and Apple Pay ad that do the same. The app also constantly boots me out, 4-6 times per hour, it's impossible to get through one episode of a tv show. I can't find a good way to give them direct feedback but I'm sure they don't care. And it's not, as they suggest, my internet speed or connection. I've tried clearing the cache and data and it helped briefly. Products used:Hulu with ads plus Starz and Showtime add-ons.     Hulu is by far the worse streaming service... their technicians have no clue how to fix anything... I pay for a service that never just streams a show or movie... it's constantly buffering and stopping and even throwing me out the app... it's ridiculous... Date of experience: February 1, 2023
    Then I cut the comcast cord and went with hulu live. There are so many things I wish I'd known before making this change. Hulu live is NOT AD FREE. Well, I guess it is for hulu exclusive shows only, but that's a minority of shows. And I have to say that not only are shows not ad-free, if you EVER want to rewind to see something a second time, there is a VERY good chance that you will be forced to see ads that you have already seen. Yup, I'm so pissed. I have a page full of complaints. And today I'm now about 30 minutes past "live" because what was supposed to be a quick rewind turned into ad after ad. The other issue is that pause does not stay paused. I hit pause, and seconds afterward, the show is playing again. I've read that this has been an issue for many months. Well, I'm out.     The commercial less version costs way too much for the consent they have or should I say lack there of. Most of my favorite shows jumped ship to another platform and there are not enough good Hulu originals to fill the void. Also, if you do go cheap and purchase the version with commercials just know they force you to watch them… the option to make the screen small and browse elsewhere is still there but once you do it plays a few seconds of the video and then disappears. Commercials don't pick back up where they left off at they just restart another 90 seconds of mind numbingly boring ads that make you want to beat you head off of the nearest wall to you.     Otherwise I would not have it. I could go into detail, but the one major thing that bothers me is there seems to be more adds than show time. Watch 5 minutes of a show and then you have to watch 90-120 seconds of commercials... And even though they have some content that Netflix doesn't have, this is why most consider Netflix to be better. We don't want to have to pay for a subscription and sit through the same commercials every 5 minutes! I will not be renewing because I don't see it being work $12 a month...     Hulu does not do viewer analysis. Why not, you ask? Why bother is their answer. Have you ever questioned why, after disliking every reality show title, game title, horror title, etc. (substitute your favorite disliked categories here) that Hulu keeps show you new titles in those categories? No analysis. Have you ever questioned why Hulu continually re-displays titles you've disliked? They don't care. "Got it?" If Hulu were a person crawling to my front door begging for shelter, I'd give them a blanket and let them sleep on the porch, but not in the house. You can't trust a liar.     I originally subscribed to hulu in Oct of 2022. Cost has gone up 20 buck in a year with no explanation. There is nothing new and exciting, and their live stream sucks $#*!. I dropped my plan down to basic on 11/5/23 and now I can barely start anything without their cute little error code popping up. Funny none of my other streaming services do thus and VERY funny it's happening now, for the first time, after telling them to shove that $85 a month bill. 0 stars but they made me throw them one.     Hulu has made watching a program on their base plan the most torturous experience ever. Its a commercial blitzkrieg, such a waste of time - commercials every 5 minutes, they never stop.     This website freezes and crashes non stop. It takes at least an hour to stream a 35 minute show. Based on other reviews I'd never even bother with a call to customer service. Just cancel the subscription. Date of experience: September 6, 2019
