Basically, I like Backstage. It does what it is meant to do to help actors search for projects. However, the only way to get human help is either writing an email for which they give you a form to submit or use the chat feature for texting. Well, I needed help for an issue, so I emailed them first. Never heard back.
So, I used the chat feature which would have been a lot easier if I had the opportunity to speak to a live agent over the phone. I finally got an answer to help me, but it was very frustrating to get via text messaging. I hate when companies won't assign real live agents to help people via telephone.

Date of experience: September 24, 2024The most toxic and disrespectful staff in the history of customer service. Have had to deal with them about a dozen times over 10 years and have never had a positive interaction. They act personally victimized and turn emotionally abusive if you have the audacity to point out any technical glitch, no matter how much you're paying them for this service. This is consistent with every single individual at the company I've spoken to.
Tip for consumers:Actors access casting networks and playbill are all superior alternatives. Their customer service is always kind and professional, unlike Backstage.

You cannot call them. So I've emailed, posted, left a voice mail. Better Business Bureau is next.

It's always wonderful to know that my needs are taken care of quickly and efficiently.

Date of experience: May 20, 2024I enjoyed browsing acting opportunities that earn extra cash. However, most of them are for people who are professional actors or student. It is advised to have advanced equipment for most roles available like recording and camera equipment.

Date of experience: April 24, 2023I cancelled my yearly subscription of £35 last september, received no confirmation of this, then woke up and was charged £101. This is theft and i will be taking it further up the company and as a police matter if not sorted. I have tried to contact all customer services but nothing, i have even put a dispute in at the bank. This site i did not use at all, hence me cancelling my subscription, then charged £101 for another year when i only paid £35 originally. This is disgusting

Date of experience: January 11, 2023I remember back when they had a free trial and the customer service people were kind. Now if you email them regarding an issue they act clueless, they somehow miss your response, they ask you to repeat stuff, all In all you go back and forth for hours over an issue that could've been resolved in under 5 minutes. It's email communication not a chat, I don't understand how you missed an email, that I can see on my end. If you run into an issue with them, they act clueless as if they don't make mistakes, I refuse to do business ever again. And they allow so many people to make scam posts, and they keep it there because why not they get paid anyways.
Terrible customer service. I told them to delete my account they asked me in about 5 separate emails if I wanted to delete it. Like come on now?

The search could use more filter to better narrow down searches/results.

Date of experience: December 15, 2023I subscribed a year ago. Cancelled the subscription after a few months and have just been charged 101 pounds. I want my money back and I want to be able to cancel me subscription when I want!
After the staff received this information they promptly got back to me, via the reply underneath and email, and were very polite, and then refunded my money - which I thought was very kind of them. I've yet to receive a gig from Backstage. I don't plan on renewing within the next six months. Too bad actually I was told this was a great way to get gigs.

When you have a question, they respond very promptly and helpfully. There are a lot of scams out there. Ones even including emails saying they found you through backstage when they are working a scam. Backstage customer support will say if it's a scam or not

Hands down i really value backstage for the insight and range of industry news and information. Date of experience: July 8, 2019Great site, defiantly worth using for castings if you are are in the US. Unfortunately I am not, so I requested to cancel my membership. Expecting difficulty (which is usually the case with cancellations) I got a friendly and understanding response from the team and full refund.
Will carry on using the free subscription but gutted I can't utilise it's full membership cause of being UK based.

It has some jobs but.most are un paid and student films. But alot of those you can find yourself for free on criags list or free sites not worth the monthly fee.
