L.L. Bean Review
Order was placed Dec. 6th it is now the 18th and shipment has not arrived yet. CS cannot help me as they say UPS has forwarded the shipment to USPS. I wouldn't care if LL Bean paid for shipping, but they don't.This is why I stopped buying from them. I thought I would give them another try. Nope won't do that again..

Date of experience: December 18, 2024Placed an order for a backpack, which was supposedly in stock, but after I submitted the order, the status was changed to backordered. Called customer service (rep's name was Susan), who was extremely rude and practically shouting at me over the phone. Said she's been there 16 years but still couldn't give me a straight answer regarding the order status, and was talking to me like I was the dumb one. If you ever order from their website and need to talk to customer service, just know that you will be shouted at, interrupted, and talked down to for something that is their mistake. I have never encountered such incompetent, arrogant, impatient, and rude customer service anywhere in my entire life. However, one thing is for sure: I'll never shop there again after such a miserable experience.

Date of experience: November 28, 2024I received my order 10/14/2024. It had 2 pair of M pants I didn't order (I wear XL) & was missing 2 pair of socks I had ordered, Called & the rep said replacements were on the way.
She called me back to let me know they had noticed the error on their end & was already in process - socks should arrive 10/16. Nothing came 10/16, so reached out via chat. The 1st rep kept insisting there was a picture of the delivery, so I was out of luck (was the initial order, it was there, but incorrect). Finally she found the previous notes & attempted to fix it, but only was replacing 1 pair, not 2.
A 2nd chat rep was flailing through fixing that, when someone called from LL Bean because I had given very negative survey responses. That person finally said both replacements are coming. This was beyond awful. I was a good & loyal customer, I deserved better.
They don't care about their customers, so I won't be considering them anymore. I returned the pants, but still nothing on the socks.
Tip for consumers:I don't even want to wear existing items I have from LL Bean after they lied to me & are screwing me
Products used:All of them, but never received the socks

Date of experience: October 17, 2024The elbow sleeve boat neck tee shirt that I ordered shrank two and a half inches in length when I washed it the first time. Since then it's shrunk another half inch.
And, yes, I followed the laundry instructions on the tag.
I have event tee shirts for which I've paid as little as $5 which have held up for years! It's deeply disappointing. I want to support an American company, but this shirt goes to Goodwill tomorrow.

Date of experience: August 8, 2024LL Bean was once a pleasure to work with - but more recently exhibit haughtiness and unwillingness to answer simple questions in a courteous way. My husband was recently treated to this "holier-than thou" crap as he Father's Day shopped and was less than impressed with the idea of ever talking to their rude reps. Again. There are many finer purveyors of clothing around who offer excellent customer service. Get off the high horse, LL. You're not all that!

Date of experience: June 20, 2024Unshrinkable Tees have been changed to a thinner material, causing the comfort and look to look cheap. The collars now have a "fried bacon" look and the shirts are less comfortable. I guarantee whoever made this decision did not wear the original quality tees. Once set above, now not so much as I'm discovering their new standards aren't much different from other clothiers.
Date of experience: June 24, 2024Their boot they so highly praise blew stitching 2 years in. Customer service was the worst from any company I have ever dealt with totally brutal. They wanted me to ship it to the US and pay for th restitch after two years of normal use and then fought back and forth between Maine and store as to whose fault / responsibility it was. Please if you value quality and customer service you are better off somewhere else...anywhere...
Date of experience: November 7, 2023Quality is absolute trash! Nothing like original L.L. Bean. I don't know what they are trying to pull here! Sent back moccasins, Advertised as suede!
What I received was not at all sued, looked like a pair of five dollar slippers! Sent back in the original packaging never even tried them on they were absolute trash! Then they tried to send me back a gift card to L.L. Bean!
Scam of a company!
This is not original LL Bean
Date of experience: January 3, 2024Bought robe online. Was delivered ok. Too big so drove 1/2 each way to return to store for a medium size. Simple exchange right? So clerk returned my large robe and put the money on a LL Bean card and used that to order me a medium sized robe, telling me it would be delivered to my home. When I went home LL Bean had canceled my order telling me it was out of stock. I immediately called LL Bean and they told me it was out of stock. Which the clerk should have told me to begin with. So she said they have a new shipment coming in so try back later and see if you can order it. I said well what about my money since the clerk never handed me the LL Bean card he put my money on. Oh it will be sent out by check but it will take awhile. I called back a couple days later to be told they are sending me a check for what I paid. So return for a different size was all I wanted to do. Instead they have lost a sale and a customer. It will be a very very long time before I buy from them again.

Date of experience: December 6, 2023I have returned two pair of boots because their sizing is all messed up. The web site recommends you size up so I did. I wear a 10.5 boot so I ordered an 11. They were way too big, more like a 13/14, so I returned them for a 10. When I received this boot it was still too big and felt more like an 11/12. So, once again I returned them and exchanged them for a size 9 (still waiting on this pair, as shipping takes 10/12 days). Both times they charged me $6.50 for shipping and then charged me full price for the exchange pair. I would have no problem with this policy, if the issue was my problem. I guess this will just have to be the last time I shop at LLBean.

Date of experience: November 6, 2023These ll bean slippers are great if you are going to replace them every four to six months but if you expect them to last any longer without the insoles coming apart or the stitching coming out then you may want to just go with a big box store like Walmart slippers that you can get 6 pairs for the price of one pair of these ll bean slippers. And don't try and use the warranty to replace them because they will keep giving excuses to why they can't honor the warranty. Take notice that lo Bean changed the warranty from life time to one year on the slippers knowing the slippers don't last but a few short months before coming apart. I have been trying to leave a review for a week now on ll beans web site but wouldn't you know they check all reviews before being excepted, so that's why I'm paying a review here since they keep denying my review

Date of experience: October 26, 2023I sent a winter shell back three times to have them fix the zipper and all they did was put a new pull on it and send it back then when I questioned why the zipper hadn't been replaced this time after the third visit, they told me they did not have a machine that could replace the new zippers on their coats so I was out of luck, so I talk to customer service and they told me that there was nothing they could do about it so I asked for a supervisor and the supervisor basically told me that it's my problem now yes L.L. Bean has gone the way of every other place for customer service for product
Date of experience: October 20, 2023I have been a customer of LLBean since the cows came home. I used to really like their quality, fir ect
Not anymore. The dress Shirts are not the same quality, the button holes are way to tight. Guess I'll have to find a new supplier for my clothes..
Tip for consumers:I'm sad as Bean was my go to for clothing.

Date of experience: December 24, 2023I had 2 gifts cards given to me. I can't use them for online orders and the items I want aren't available to be ordered through our Kitchener Ontario store. Not acceptable! If you sell gift cards, you should be able to use them!

Date of experience: November 21, 2023Items that used to be high quality are now more like Walmart goods. The costly sheets I ordered, after less than half a year, resemble ones in my closet that are 25 years old. The return of said sheets has taken over a month so far. My money is tied up until the long-awaited refund comes through. It is indeed an unnecessary long wait. After all, when you purchase, they take your money IMMEDIATELY. Very poor service when it takes over a month to get that money back due to a faulty product.
Tip for consumers:look for another high end place. LLBean is no longer a high quality place
Products used:sheets for only a few months

Date of experience: January 19, 2023I love these shirts! They are my go-to summer wear. I wish they still sold the Dark Olive color though and made new colors too. I got shoe polish on my old olive shirt, and it washed out!. They get better with washings. And the weight is perfect. They are worth the price. Just miss my olive color. I'm from Maine originally, so I feel like I have a piece of "home" wrapped around me.I met Mr. Bean when a child. He was at the door greeting people. Good memories.
Date of experience: April 22, 2023I just bought 2 polartec "blankets" from these folks and they don't even compare to the ones I've ordered from them in the past. They're thin and more like the micro fleece sheets that I order from Kohl's. They're also way too expensive-(over $160 for 2 thin "made in China" "blankets"). Also, I had to revise my review three times on their website before they would post it. I think most of the folks who gave this "blanket" an excellent review have never ordered one of the older versions. Last purchase from them.

Date of experience: May 8, 2022I have been wearing primarily LL bean for decades, shirts, jeans, boots, coats, fleece vests etc. In the last few years they have changed their color pallet to remove any bright colors from the hurricane cloth shirts, chamois shirts and polos, replacing interesting colors like salmon, red, yellow and tan with drab dull colors and plaid. None of the clothes I used to buy are available in a color I want to wear. They also gutted their guarantee.
Date of experience: November 14, 2021I purchased shirts from LL Bean - dress shirts - and all of them developed a specific defect. A set of holes (little tears) appeared - regularly spaced around the collar. On six different shirts. In the same place.
I sent pictures to customer service, asking whether there had been other reports of poor quality with these shirts. There was no meaningful response.
After years of purchasing from LL Bean, I have now shifted to other companies.

Date of experience: February 18, 2023Great quality goods. Good prices. Free shipping. Easy exchanges. Fast delivery. I just wish they freshened up their business casual shirt collection much more often. They are still selling the same designs I have already owned for five or more years. I'd like a "Bean-quality" update to my wardrobe.
Date of experience: January 31, 2015Like REI, generally good quality at high prices. However, also like their prime competitor they have an increasing tendency to include merchandise of borderline design and offshore manufacture that leaves you entirely dependent on their liberal return policy.
Date of experience: February 7, 2017When you want an item constructed with 110% quality, backed by 110% customer service then look no further. I have happily purchased wonderful products for my entire family for both winter and summer holidays that will probably out last every vacation we could ever take. Perfect fit, superb quality, and if there's ever a question their customer service is tops! Love L. L. BEAN!
Date of experience: April 7, 2015I was very impressed with L. L. Bean!
I plan to revisit some day, when I'm a bit more flush (with cash, like I was last time I shopped there via catalog).
As you might expect from a long-established proud rural Maine company in those days (nearly all the great clothes I bought were made in USA), both design and build yielded some of the best clothes I've ever owned. I feel like a slob compared to how I dressed then, lol.
Old Nordstrom comparable. Reliable, prompt... Long ago.

Date of experience: December 22, 2015I like LL Bean but they want you to return their stuff at Sears which is like suggesting you don't really have an option because where are Sears anyway? They are all closing down. So they should include free label returns rather than charging for them.
Date of experience: January 7, 2017When it comes to enduring clothing quality, I end up testing things out. I have torn a number of shirts, pants, and so on. I have not ordered through their site recently, so I can't really give a 100% review of things there. But I can say that all my past orders were exactly what I expected, and the clothing wore well, lasted a long time, and was worth what it cost.
