I gave them a card on the website for an order. No confirmation, no notice of card decline. I called back two weeks pending, was told card declined. I gave them ANOTHER card over the phone, the order taker confirmed. The next day I STILL had no email confirmation or the reorder. I called again. The supervisor said she couldn't find the order. Now they had two card numbers in a huge bank of order takers in the Philippines. I called my bank and canceled the card. No product was ever received, waste of time and huge stress.

Date of experience: February 4, 2025I recently ordered gluten free flours from Swanson. Their web site said free-shipping. It took a very very long time to recieve products, I called and was told it was supposed to be delivered via Fed X by 9pm that day. But if it wasn't to wait a few more days and see.if it came before calling back. Not only that, but their "free-shipping" was free + 11.64. How does that = free? They put products on special, but then charge for the free shipping do the products are not actually o. Special at all?!?!

Tip for consumers:I was sad to see all these bad reviews, thought Swanson was bought-out. I'm relieved that I just received a call from a patient and knowledgeable rep who helped fix & resend my 14 product order, so it's better than the original!

Date of experience: June 5, 2024Swanson used to be my go to for certain supplements. There's only really 1 or 2 products that I need for them, so in order to save myself shipping on 30-60 days supplies, I'd stock up on 3-4 bottles at a time and pay that shipping all at once. Today I've gone on to buy my supply and there's a Limit of 1. For everything. I can't even buy 2 of the same lip balm. I like their products and have always liked their service in the past. But I refuse to pay $5.99 shipping every time I need a new bottle of a supplement. With that price added on it's cheaper to go somewhere else.
Tip for consumers:That I'd have to pay 5.99 shipping for one tube of lip balm because I'm not allowed to buy more than that.
Products used:Didn't end up buying because of the purchase limit on their website.

Date of experience: February 18, 2024They claim they are giving you huge discount with their code, but after you spend time picking out items, loading your cart and go to check out you see the discount is ONLY for their Swanson products, plus they tack on all kinds of fees like charging more to have your shipment insured, handling fees etc etc. You don't see this until check out. This company is HORRIBLE, steer clear! Super deceptive company means it only starts at check out...so glad I didn't purchase anything.

The lady kept contact me, Tina tried to sell me more product that she claim to help. But I'm not interested { I already have enough supply at home}. I tried to contact the office, and the sale man, but no answer. I contact Tina again before the 60 days guaranty to get my money back. She said what do I have to return since I use it all. She said she will contact the company and let me know, but it's been more than a week, she's seem disappeared. It's a waste money, and time

I did the payment and it went through and then I see that it was refunded. I usually didn't check my email I just log in into Swanson's website and the order keeps saying processing. So after a while I called the company y the associate told me that my card was rejected. I mean that message should be on the portal and give the option to summit another card.
So I have to have a card number on the phone.

Date of experience: March 1, 2024I was repurchasing a supplement I regularly get from Swanson. The price was great and I was going to order several bottles. A 20% discount offer popped up for allowing text offers. As soon as I signed up the discount was added to my order. The problem is the price per bottle had nearly doubled. What would have been $23 for 5 bottles was suddenly $17 more expensive after supposedly adding a 20% discount! TOTAL SCAM!

Date of experience: December 7, 2023Two stars was probably generous. Can't handle credit cards, slow delivery (no 5-6 days for sure), primitive website. Products are good once the package finally arrives. Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.
Date of experience: September 10, 2023I had set up an order to be sent every 2 months. The screen had a price for four lithium 5mg and two Ubiquinol 200mg at just over $44. When I went to pay, the screen had changed the price far upward on both products. I called Swanson, but they said they could not get the original prices again. I got no help at all. I was very frustrated, angry, and disappointed.

Date of experience: January 19, 2024Concern. I recently purchased a jug of magnesium oil. The packaging was horrible. With a bottle being that heavy in weight, there was no insulation in the box. It was put in a Liploc bag in a box with a piece of tape across the top of the cap. When it was delivery. It's was dropped on my porch leaking everywhere.
Date of experience: February 21, 2024The Japanese dialect is hard to understand with some of these CSR's. They auto ordered B Vitamins to me and charged my Card $40. I NEVER agreed to auto ship, I don't do auto ship on anything. Maybe something was checked that should not have been but I did NOT do it nor see it! I asked the man to take my Credit Card out of their System and he said he couldn't do that and they don't have my number, B.S!
I'm not going to order from Swanson anymore I've been a Customer for 20 some years.
Tip for consumers:No Company has the right to keep your Credit Card on File, for someone that's been a Customer for 20 some years you should show respect to their requests.

Date of experience: October 2, 2023I read a lot of bad reviews about this company and was hesitant to order, but their prices were so great, I decided to give it a shot. The order went through seamlessly with the additional site coupon, aside from an extra shipping charge I didn't notice at check out despite the coupon saying free shipping over $50. Some reviews had stated they were charged incorrectly, so I called customer service to cancel my order, got through right away, and they quickly refunded the shipping plus gave me an additional $5 off. The box arrived within a few days with all items well packed and in great condition. Terrific value, as some items were 40% below Amazon and other website prices! I would recommend to try this company as I'm glad the negative reviews were not accurate, at least not in my case!
Tip for consumers:Make sure to check all charges before clicking final order button. Call customer service if any issues. Use coupons you can find on the site or through a web search for additional savings.

Date of experience: June 13, 2021Ordered 05/11/2019. Order processed 05/14/2019. Promised 05/17/2019 delivery date. Was postponed til 05/20/2019. Today is 05/21/2019 and I still haven't received it. Chatted with Swanson Customer service to process refund on 05/20/2019. Kept waiting on chat and got p***ed off and hung up. In today's day and age, NO ONE should have to wait over 10 days to receive an order. This company stinks and I for one, will never EVER order from them again. I ended up ordering from Vitacost for about the same price and received excellent customer service. Stay away from Swanson unless you like to get frustrated.
Tip for consumers:They are easy to order from, but hard to get a hold of and they do nothing about the shipping. I think they get business because they are slightly cheaper than other vitamin & supplement sites. If you can put up with the crummy customer service and long delivery times to save a few pennies, by all means, order through them.

Date of experience: May 21, 2019The deva vegan vitamin bottles I ordered were sent out in a flimsy green plastic bag that was SHREDDED on arrival. One bottle of vitamins was partly sticking out of the packet and has become deformed. The bottle could easily have been removed from the torn package, tampered with, and then re-inserted into the ripped bag. This is not the way to send health products. They should be sent in a sturdy protective box. Not a flimsy, grimy bag. I'm shocked and disappointed with Swanson
Date of experience: March 11, 2019The Swanson Cayenne product is full of health claims ( see pic). I took it for over two months and experienced no improvement. What it did give me was a very bad heartburn, virtually every time I took a capsule. One certainly feels the 40,000 Capsaicin Heat Units. The capsules are not enteric-coated, so one gets the full benefit of the burning right in the stomach.

Date of experience: September 3, 2020I've shopped there for a long time and thought they were are discount vitamin company but have realized that you can buy at consistently lower prices elsewhere without their gimmick pricing. When you contact them they say it doesn't matter if you are a long time customer, as you just have to pay the regular price and wait for special discount codes. They say to call in your order and try to get a discount vs just ordering online.

Date of experience: December 21, 2022I purchased 6 jars of again Safflower mayo as I can't find it locally anymore and some supplements and otc pain pills. They threw everything in loose with little to no padding. 3 jars of mayo completely shuttered, Glass and mayo all over. Mayo expiration date is in 2.5 months. I called customer service and they wanted me to dig through the glass and nasty mess and keep whatever was not broken. I cut my hand trying to get the pill bottles and the other jars cleaned. The customer service will only replace the 3 broken jars. They did not care about the expiration. I should have just put a return label and send all the mess back to them so they can cut themselves with the glass trying to clean it. Very unhappy with the purchase and will not buy from swansonvitamins ever again.

As you know, the shippers are overwhelmed due to the pandemic - so a couple of bottles were broken during shipping. Swanson had no objections for a refund for those two bottles. They said they would - and carried through! Kudos to the customer service branch; thank you!

Date of experience: December 28, 2020I've ordered a lot of vitamins from this site over the last few years and they've slowly been going downhill. They used to have free shipping offers quite often. Those disappeared & it seemed like they only sent offers if I left items in my cart for a couple of days. Lately those have gone away too. Recently I've noticed they send a coupon the day after I place an order. This would be nice if it was good for more than 3 days!
They do have good prices though. Maybe next time I need some vitamins I will order one item & wait for them to send the usual email coupon, then order the rest & use the coupon.
I have not had to make any returns, so haven't experienced the same problems as other reviewers.
Date of experience: November 17, 2014I have bought from Swanson for decades and spent thousands of dollars with them plus have recommended them to numerous others. About two years ago their quality deteriorated and I even found empty capsules and parts of capsules in bottles as well as powder loose in separate bottles.
This year they shipped me an order frozen and they want me to return the proof so they can resell that product and eventually refund my money. For five long days I have been treated like trash by their customer service. They keep arguing freezing even creams won't do any harm. The latest stunt is they want me to leave the product outside in an open box and they have placed a tracking number for UPS to
Pick it up (OPEN) so they can then claim it never was sent back or items were missing if it ever arrived.
What changed Swanson? Did they sell out to someone else?
