A pior experiência que já tive com aluguel de carros. O gerente é arrogante, mal-educado e absolutamente despreparado. Tentei recusar o seguro CDW e LDW para usar o do meu cartão, mas ele disse que "não era o Mickey Mouse" e se recusou a fazer a alteração no sistema. Quando insisti, ele simplesmente se negou a me entregar as chaves e mandou eu alugar em outro lugar!
Além disso, ele não cancelou a locação e a Hertz ficou com 100 euros do meu dinheiro, mesmo sem eu ter usado o carro! Isso é roubo! Nunca mais alugo com a Hertz e não recomendo para ninguém. Evitem esse lugar a todo custo!
Date of experience: December 14, 2024I returned a vehicle that had a tiny rock ding that was smaller than a pencil erasure, nno way I would have noticed it when I picked it up. Needless to say they blamed me then rather than repairing it for $100 they elected to replace the windshield for $670. Customer service was a joke and refused to explain why they chose the much more expensive option
Date of experience: May 14, 2024DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. They have the worst customer service. It is impossible to talk to a live human. I reserved a car through their app and entered a credit card. When I arrived to pick up the car I was told they don't accept that type of credit card and they could not help me and there were no exceptions. I was stranded in their parking lot for an hour in 90 degree heat while finding other transportation. Two days later they charged my card 51.00 for canceling the reservation. The same card they claimed they don't accept. I was there and there on time for the reservation. I did not cancel it...they denied me a car. I called customer service and was told it would be a 10 minute wait. The first call i held for 30 minutes and hung up the second call i held for an hour and still never spoke to anyone! The only way to reach customer service is via email and they take 3 to 5 business days to reply. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. HORRIBLE COMPANY. HERTZ ARE NOTHING BUT CROOKS! DO NOT USE HERTZ!

Date of experience: July 21, 2024Hertz will not return your lost items. I left a bag in a car in the Las Vegas Hertz rental car location. I made a claim within two hours of the returned vehicle. Over the course of two weeks, I made several updates to the claim in great detail regarding the bag's name, brand, and contents. I made at least six calls, and no one from Hertz could provide me with a number to the site location. After three weeks, I was finally able to find a local number, and when you press to speak to a local representative, the system hangs up on you.
I even had two local family members stop by the location to try and retrieve my belongings and was told both times, "normal work hours," the only person that had access to the lost and found room was not in. I had an air tag in the bag and proceeded to take over ten screenshots of the bag just sitting there at the location. I checked their lost and found page every other day to see if my reference number was posted, and nothing. No one from Hertz contacted me or even responded to my inquiry. Now I see my bag is at a trash facility. So beware: Hertz has one of the poorest customer services I have ever dealt with. The only way you can get someone on the phone is if you are looking to give them money towards a new rental. I rent a lot and am currently a part of their Presidential Circle, but that will change because if this is the way they do business, then I can rent my cars somewhere else.

Date of experience: June 6, 2024When picking up my reserved vehicle at Barcelona airport I was asked if I wanted personal insurance coverage. I declined the coverage but the agent slipped it in the contract anyways. Lesson learned: always look at all the details before signing a rental agreement, no matter how long it takes. This lesson cost me 120 Euros for useless insurance.

Date of experience: November 8, 2023Despicable company that tried to get my money although i never signed anything with them. They told me later that they own Firefly car hire who also tried to grab my money. They referred the issue to debt collectors! Without even reviewing my case or answering my emails. Didnt even want to talk to me on the phone. It was a result of a VISA credit dispute that resulted in my favour. 6 Months later Hertz popped up and want that money back without answering any of my questions regarding this issue. Thinking serious legal action against them and their side kick eos debt collectors

Date of experience: January 13, 2024I was driving your rental when a 6 ft tractor retread came at me and I couldn't avoid it without causing a deadly accident. Damage happened to the car. The amount of fees you are charging me for this are insane. You are robbing me for your cost of doing business. It is unethical and a completely ignorant way to do business.
Not only will I never use hertz again but I will be discouraging everyone I know to ban hertz.
The amount of social media posts I will be making will cause even more to go elsewhere. You also charged me for a toll and I was never on a toll road.
You seem to think you can just use my credit card as though you pay the bill.
You are a rip off unethical and ignorant company not to mention your total lack of customer service as I have been trying to contact your claims department and never get a call back or a live person to speak with.

Date of experience: March 30, 2024Long story short Hertz would not refund my account after dropping the car off early I talked to numerous hertz customer service people who all assured me I'd have my money back within 7-10 business days - I asked to speak to the supervisor Earnie who said you were refunded yesterday -if it's not in your account take it up with your bank- and hung up on me, so I did my bank got me my money back - two months later Hertz sent me to collections for the exact amount they owed me. 9 month ordeal still going on.

Date of experience: March 13, 2024This service rescued me when I urgently demanded a car to drive. You easily choose th pick up and drop off locations, as well as specify precise time period, and you can enjoy a wide selection of cars of different classes. That is what I liked the most about Hertz.
As far as I know the service is represented not in every state but I was in Florida, so grabbed this chance and again thank you very much for saving my life, LITERALLY!
Date of experience: December 29, 2023Disgusted. Yes, I made mistakes, but zero help or support. Back in August I used a van to collect family from Heathrow. 1) the van didn't have the 1/4 tank - I was stressed and didn't see the £50 card limit. Paid £114 to fill up - they will NOT refund me. Drove through the Heathrow drop off area as I panicked about the height restrictions for the car park. Told Hertz there maybe a penalty coming, how should I pay, please let me know if one comes in? Months later I finally get a full penalty, but now so late I can't pay it online and it's gone to enforcement company! I have repeatedly chased them for answers and now finally in December told - no, no help. At least £230 out of pocket now because they just don't care.
Tip for consumers:Basic hire was okay, but pretty daunting. DO NOT make any mistakes, expect any help. DO NOT spend more than £50 to use their fuel card - they will not refund you.

For a 13 days rental, I was deceptively charged $3,497.00 for an upgraded 49,000 miles driven car with poor shocks, bad steering and non-functional USB port. Complaint about the cars performance from the highway went unheeded, as the buck was passed here and there.
In addition to $ 3,497.00, my credit card has been charged an additional amount of $695.00 without any explanation on my receipt as to what this additional charge entails. I could not find the explanation anywhere on Hertz's website either.

Date of experience: July 23, 2023In three recent Hertz rentals, they had no cars available despite taking my reservation and my being a President's Circle member. In each case, a bunch of other people were also left without cars. The manager at the one in NYC said he thinks this is the company policy despite it being illegal in New York. Sounds like an opportunity for another class action lawsuit against Hertz. I guess leaving their customers stranded without a car is better than having them arrested for stealing a car that they rented!

They'll send an e-mail 3-5 business days later after an inquiry stating that they have a high influx of e-mails so they take a long time to reply then just tell you to call a 1-800 # and remain on the line for 10-15 minutes. Their e-mails are ALWAYS saying sorry for the inconvenience but the messages are completely automated. I cancelled my reservation at the end of the 15 minute call.

Date of experience: April 10, 2022I prepaid for a manager special 2 or 4 door car. When I arrived the agent stated no 4 door was available, she would upgrade to a full size car. I told her I could get a better deal at another car rental. She stated she'd take care of me and give a 50% discount. I trusted her word, my mistake! My original reservation was for $276.38, my final charge on my credit card is $615.80. Very nice " bait and switch " Hertz. Shame on your agent for lying and stealing customers hard earned money. I guess nothing was learned from bankruptcy and the lawsuit of your former CEO.

I was told they haven't had a 7 passenger in several weeks, well that would be nice to know before I show up to pick the car up. No sympathy, and I'm the one left to handle the giant mess they created. Cust service Is horrible and im A presidents member, looks like I will take my business elsewhere

Date of experience: March 18, 2021For hours I attempted today to book a rental. Keep in mind I'm a President's Circle Member at Hertz and have thousands of points for free rentals. I had my first opportunity to use some of my points to get a free rental. It was impossible to do. I tried on the website and kept getting a web site error message. I tried contacting someone but kept getting routed to an outsourced call center somewhere in Asia that had little or no product knowledge (didn't understand my renal was a 3 day and not 2 day) and was impossible to understand (poor English language). I spent hours trying to rent a car for the weekend using points online, through the app, using the 800 number and even Facebook and Twitter messages and still was unable to complete this simple transaction. What a terrible customer experience.
Tip for consumers:Use another company. You will get frustrated if you rental process does not complete.

Date of experience: October 10, 2022Unresponsive customer service. Hertz rented me a vehicle with over 55,000 miles on the odometer. During my rental the key fob became inoperative and would not unlock the doors. The lock cylinder for the physical key was also broken. I could not unlock the car. I was stranded at a remote location with no cell service after completing an 85 mile backpacking trip. The vehicle also had no spare tire. Hertz Customer Service has been unresponsive to my request for customer satisfaction. (Rental Record # *******)

When we went to pick up the car we were told they didn't have our reservation. The rude employee did nothing to try and help us and actually told us to move out of the line. We had to pay over $140 more to rent a car through another company. We have contacted both Travelocity and Hertz. Hertz refused to refund our money to us or Travelocity because the confirmation number is invalid. My husband was actually hung up on by Hertz several times. Even doing a conference call with Travelocity. Beware they will do anything to rip you off and be extremely rude while doing it.

We got a rental through our insurance company at a rate of 40 per day... it was to include taxes and service fees. The lady offered us an upgrade at $1.50 per day plus the sakes taxes for that charge. After 11 days we should have been billed around $20. Instead we were billed $119. This was because the original car arranged didn't include the taxes and service fee. Tried to communicate with Hertz and only got passed between the local office and the customer care number. In addition a manager hung up on me. Please, if you can help it find another place. If not then read everything carefully and don't sign until you are sure you understand the cost. Shame on you Hertz for only worrying about commission and your own pockets. Deception is not good customer care practice.

Date of experience: July 6, 2020Rented a car for 6 days and on day one, tire issue's. Then tire issues all week and with many calls to Hertz no one ever answered & voicemail was full so couldn't even leave a message. I called several numbers and even selected road side service needed but again no answer nor option to leave message because vm was full...so disappointed with our whole experience...AND NO ONE TO TALK TOO ABOUT IT...Never again and will share with over 300 people I just work with not including entire family and friends.

Date of experience: December 10, 2023Main caller line screwed up my order. After 45 minutes and giving them the new card number they canceled 1 of 3 cars I had rented. Didn't receive a cancellation email or text. Got to the airport and was forced to make a new booking at 60% over original quotes price when I was told my reservation was canceled. Was given different best possible rates by desk agent. Car wasn't ready till 2 hours after reservation. Spent over $4,000 on rental cars and was treated with total lack of care. Won't be using Hertz after that experience.
