Once again, I was scammed by this company and left holding the bag. This time, with a mesa amplifier. The item started malfunction ing right after the "return window". Shocker. It kept getting worse, guitar center refuses any connection to it, and refuses to address this issue in any way other than "should have paid hundreds for our pro coverage."
Avoid these people. Sweetwater always honors their deals, and always goes above and beyond to make sure the customer is taken care of. Go through them instead.
I have had guitar center clsoe my account, and remove all data from their back end. Scammers till the end as per usual.

Date of experience: September 27, 2024I ordered a schecter 7 string that they had for sale online. They had the wrong pictures on the listing so had to cancel the order. They left the charge on my card for over a week and in that week the guitar I wanted was bought. Tried to chat on the website and the employee just closed the chat without offering any resolution. Had to call 3 different times to find someone to actually help me and even then their solution was to get a gear card or ask for a higher limit on the gear card. Finally ordered a guitar that was my third choice since the used pieces I wanted were sold while I stared at a guitar center charge on my card and then shipping is delayed two days because it's in a different box since guitar center isn't honest about stock and will let you buy anything even if they don't have it after I was told by the agent that helped I would have it on the weekend. That didn't happen.i have been trying my hardest to buy a guitar from them for a month now and still don't have an instrument in my hands. Getting someone from the company to consistently respond to emails or the live chat to help you is near impossible so they can filter you to the phone I suppose where they try to sell you more and more. Worst customer experience I have ever had and I will never spend money with this company again.

'Guitar is used in Excellent condition. There are some fine pick scratches on the front, a small ding on the bottom as well as the lower horn (pictured). There are no chips, neck is straight and frets are roughly 85-90%, electronics all work as they should although the tone pot is slightly scratchy.'
See... that took me 60 seconds while looking at the guitar I bought at a local pawn shop instead of buying the same guitar off GC's website!

The unit arrived yesterday in great condition but was missing the backpack case for the poles and speaker. I called customer service and they said that the used unit didn't show any accessories. I told them that the photo for the listing clearly showed the case. They would not budge. This will be the last time I will buy something online from Guitar Center and not sure I will even buy anything from our local store. Buyer beware!

Date of experience: March 22, 2023I attempted to purchase a used but expensive guitar from this company, I found it on there web site and called the customer service number to make sure the guitar was there and in pristine condition, there sales associate went on about what a beautiful guitar this was and that it was in perfect condition, so I ordered it that moment. Less than a hour after I purchased it I got a e mail stating that the guitar has already been sold. Clearly the sales associate was not truthful, then to compound things I have to wait for a refund, so they charged me for a guitar that was already sold. When I called and asked for the refund to be expedited there sales staff were less that friendly offered no compensation or even a honest sounding apology.

Date of experience: February 25, 2023I was given a snare head for Christmas. Clear Remo black dot. As it turns out it's awful. I chatted online with an associate on Dec 31st. He said I could return for a refund. Today, Jan 1st, received a text msg being told drum heads non returnable. I said, not even 2hrs on it, no marks at all. I didn't want a refund. I would like to exchange for another snare head. No reply- dead silent. Already ordered a replacement. No questions on returns. I'm done with them. That's why unreasonable.
Tip for consumers:Look elsewhere first. Make sure you can return items.

Date of experience: January 1, 2024I ordered a used DigiTech 2120 effects processor for $249.00. The condition was listed as "great" but that wasn't my reality unfortunately. The unit listed looked perfectly fine, faceplate lettering knobs screen (display). All looked immaculate. Do they even test this stuff before it leaves the store? I couldn't even get any sound out of it or through it.

Date of experience: August 22, 20233 months ago I purchased a DigiTech GSP5 online from GC. It arrived on time and shipped well. Upon finding a power cable they did not provide, I discovered that the clock battery was shot. No big deal, $3 and ten mins I had that in. Annoyed, I moved on getting the equipment into my rack expecting to use it for modulation more than anything. Well, it emits a squeal and horrible noise on every setting. It just does not work. I contacted GC and was promised a refund, they were sending a label to me to send the item back. After several emails, I still do not have my refund. No label. And a boat anchor in my rack. Suffice it to say I will not buy another thing from them again. GC. NF. Never again for used equipment.

That's when the tech guy, my old friend, came out from the back and told me I had to leave, then went on to tell the employee who was helping me,, that I was banned, over his personal feelings about me.Im a former employee and a 40+ year guitarist. I don't cause anyone problems. Just an unprofessional douchebag got put in charge

I still, after almost a week waiting, get one to two emails a day. I even forwarded one of their emails back to them as they requested. No luck. This company needs help with their own day-to-day communication operations. If you are reading this, Guitar Center, I promised that I would keep giving bad reviews and telling people not to shop with you, if you did not unsubscribe me.
Date of experience: January 7, 2023February 2023, I purchased a Bose 900 sound bar with 700 base module and items were back ordered. The following week, I found this Bose System 200.00 cheaper. I called for a price match refund and Lily credited my guitar center credit card for 219.90. In March they shipped my base module to me and recharged the 219.90 price match refund back to my guitar center credit card. As of today 7/8/23, they have Not corrected the charge. Terrible to do business with and they are Not to be trusted. I never gave they permission to charge 219.90 back to my credit card and Synchrony Bank hasn't corrected the problem either

Date of experience: July 9, 2023I had an issue with what was supposed to be a same day in store pickup order that was changed to ship to store. The delivery date didn't work for when the item was needed so I reached out to see what could be done. Rather than direct my order to another store where the item was avaialble they gave me thier canned 'we're sorry and appreciate your business' response you'll see on all these reviews and proceeded to jerk me around until my order was supposed to be delivered. On the day it was scheduled to arrive I recieve the shipping notification of a delay but just for fun I decided to head to the store as I really needed the item. Low and behold its there sitting on a shelf covered in dust...they didn't even try to fulfill my order or have the store check inventory. Go elsewhere when looking for whatever gear your interested in. They do not value you as a customer.
1 star only because there isn't an option to go negative.

Falsifying in-stock items, selling used equipment as new, to profit over the expense of customer fulfillment, lackluster customer service, all serve to earn permanent closure of Guitar Center.

Date of experience: January 21, 2024I've been emailing with an Eric Eldridge with guitar center and he sent me a bad Ibanez and won't exchange it for me. I took my guitar into guitar center to get looked at and they didn't recognize they sent me a bad one. Instead charged me $100 for a horrible setup and sent me on my way. Very unhappy customer with Eric and guitar center. Don't ever buy from them. Sweetwater seems to care more about their customers than guitar center.
Date of experience: October 18, 2023I have had several good visits to our local Guitar Center in Evansville, In. I stopped in today to buy a guitar case that was on sale. A younger male with bushy curly brown hair asked if he could help me. I pulled out my phone, showed him the case I had in my cart online. He looked it up, said he had 2 of them. Told me it may be a few minutes before he can find it. I replied no problem, I will look around a bit. Well the next thing I see him on the floor, ignoring me, talking with another employee, then reorganizing something in a box, looked at me, turned the other way. I am thinking what did I do... Then I went up to another man with beard, I think he is mgr, and told him what I was looking for and the more I thought about it, hell no, Ill order online and have it shipped to me. I wont be back. I may order stuff online but I wont go back to store.

Date of experience: January 13, 2024I placed a simple online order for one book. I get an email stating I need to call in the complete verification in order to release the item for shipping. Erik Cisneros From Guitar Center answers and literally demanded a bank statement to prove this wasn't a fraudulent charge. They suspected fraud because I used my husbands debit card, which is a joint account we share, and the shipping address had my name on it instead of my husbands. The other option was to call my bank and get some verification merchant code? Complete waste of time and very frustrating. I will not be shopping here ever again.

Snnchonty Bank and other Guitar Center staff did absolutely nothing and totally ignored my problem. David is equivalent to numerous outstanding employees in one. All others can learn a great deal from him if they would make an honest effort. Once again, hats off to David at the Southington Guitar Center!

I purchased two acoustic guitars online but before I did, I called up and spoke to a sales associate to take a look at the guitar the first time and they said it was an excellent condition. It wasn't. It was broken the second time I tried buying a guitar eight months later, I called up again, spoke to the sales associate, and they assured me that the guitar was in great shape, a day later, I got a phone call after purchasing the guitar from the sales associate telling me that the guitars got a huge crack on the side of it and if I still want it and I just said no that's it. I will not shop at guitar Center anymore.

Date of experience: March 22, 2023I walked into Guitar Center in Winter Park with my 1990 Gibson Firebird. I was interested in selling the guitar. The second I walked in the store I felt every employee in there was completely cold and just had an attitude like they didn't want to be there. Kyler the manager took some pictures of the guitar he said it was going to be sent off to California and I never heard back. I called the store numerous times but they thought it was fun to just keep me on hold. Once I got in contact with Kyler he said oops I never sent the pictures but you should have an email well guess what no email no reply and absolute ridiculous service these guys don't want to be there they're just there for their hourly.

Date of experience: July 20, 2023Always good prices, and they do not hesitate on returns. I had a shipping damage issue and they didn't place blame or fuss. You can take a chance with them because if its not what you wanted you can send it back no hassle.
I still like going into the store but if its not in stock you can order it in store and have it delivered or order on line an pick up in store.
They'll match musicians friend prices also.
